Color Commentary

Color commentators on live sporting events are unusual characters.  They are present to tell stories about the sport.  Many commentators just present random drivel about the sport, which may or may not be relevant to the event at hand.

I am watching the Red Sox at Chicago Cubs on ESPN tonight.  Terry Francona, the former Red Sox manager, is the color comentator. Because of his experience with managing the Red Sox for years, he is able to contribute some stories which are meaningful and contibute to the viewing pleasure of the game.

Maybe ESPN needs to expand their repetoire of color commentators so they have people who can speak knowledgably about the teams that are on the broadcast.
