So, I went to the Drum Corps International Premiere show tonight at Cinemark. It started at 7:30 CDT, which sounded late. But that was correct. So that puts it starting in Indianapolis, Ind. at 8:30 EDT. Well, my prepaid ticket had the correct local time on it, so I showed up on time!
When they showed the schedule, it really flashed on the screen (why do they do that? A lot of things they showed on the screen were not on the screen long enough to finish reading it ). The last band was shown as due to play at 10:04 PM. So throughout the show, I kept trying to reconcile how a seven band performance, when each time slot is about 16 minutes long, could last 3 hours. Well, dummy, imagine my surprise when I left the theater and it was not yet 10 PM. Of course, the magic of time zones prevailed!
That was a nice surprise. I really was expecting to get home about 10:30 PM or close to 11 PM. It was not that the hour was so late, but when I go out at night, it takes me several hours to wind down before I can go to sleep. And I was worried about getting home that late and then trying to wind down. As it is, I am doing okay in the wind down department, and will not get to bed much later than I normally do.
