I Choose Nice

A colleague wrote a piece on her Facebook about the lack of love and the abundance of divisiveness in our country.  This was my response:

"I am with you. Some time back, I made a decision that I want to be nice as much as I can. I am human, so I still get impatient, short temperamentally (I am already short physically), and frustrated. But, I try to be nice. That is a choice I have made. I get a lot of kudos for being nice (it is amazing to me who is watching.) I do not do it for the kudos, but I do appreciate being appreciated, and it feeds my desire to continue to be nice."

I am a work in progress, but I keep trying and trying and trying.  I had occasion tonight to refer to the fact that I am not a practicing Catholic. But, I am practicing at being nice. I hope that counts for something.
