Having watched the Red Sox vs. Yankee game, I have now turned to the NASCAR race from Loudon, NH, on ESPN. They are providing continual coverage, or NASCAR NONSTOP. When they play an advertisement, it is on the screen in a box that takes up more than half of the screen. The race coverage is in a much smaller screen.
I wonder how ESPN convinced advertisers that this was to their advantage. I certainly think it is. I do not usually show preference to advertising, but all things being equal, if I otherwise do not have a preference, I will use a NASCAR sponsor.
