So, on August 11, 2017 I was reading in the living room, waiting for the repair technicians. Neither cat sat with me. I had the front door open. Then both cats were at the front door, a signal we had company, and we did. Taki and Haiku took off. During the course of the day, Haiku would come out and sit with me from time to time. For logistics reasons, I moved the laptop to the dining room table, as otherwise, I would be traipsing through the workers tools and areas to get to the computer room. Sometimes, Haiku would sit next to me at the table, sometimes she would hide.
When things quieted down, sometimes because both workers were outside, or when they went to lunch, Taki would come out. She came out after just 2 or 3 minutes of quiet, but only if no one else was around. Haiku was in and out.
They both seemed relieved when I moved their toys, basket and tree back into the living room, and returned the trunk to its spot.
Today, August 12, 2017 both cats were still a little skittish. Sometimes Haiku would just sit and stare, other times she would race around. Sometimes, Taki would disappear, or when I moved around, she would race off. By evening both were doing better. This is good. We are getting back to normal.
