Open Sesame

Sake opens drawers and doors.  I have seen her technique for opening drawers: she stands on her hind legs, digs her claws into the top of the drawer front, and walks backwards, very slowly, pulling the drawer open.

Her door opening technique varies.  Of course, if a door is open a crack, she just puts her paw, curled, around the door, and pulls.  Or just pushes with her nose and head.

I have seen her open cupboards that are closed:  she slaps and slaps at the door until it opens a crack, then uses her paw to finish opening the door.

Today, I watched as she opened the door to the coat closet. The door was open a sliver, not enough to get her paw between the door and the jamb.  She just sat there and slapped at the door, until it bounced back enough so she could get her paw in between the door and the jamb.
Then she walked away. She did not want in the closet, she just wanted the door open!
