Last November, I developed a skin condition mostly on my hands. As the condition resolved, the skin over the joints of the fingers of my hands swelled, and split along the folding lines. The splits have grown and sometimes stayed open, and then resolved. And re-opened and resolved again. My mother used to have similar problems with her skin splitting the same way.
The splitting skin and resolving continues. My medical provider suggested I use a product called Aquaphor http://www.aquaphorhealing.com/. This is a product that is the consistency of petroleum jelly, and petroleum jelly is the primary ingredient But there are other ingredients. My provider said that this product would absorb into my skin. She was right.
This product has really helped my skin problem to resolve. That is good. It has also helped with the dry skin problems that I have on other parts of my body. This is good.
I have used it when my midsection feels dry. Rubbing Aquaphor into the skin on my midsection is amazing: It is like there is no ointment on my hand. The skin on my midsection is so dry, that even though I have the ointment on my hands, rubbing it in immediately dries out my hand.
This is a good product, as far as I am concerned. It seemed expensive when I purchased it. But a very little goes a long way. It is well worth it.
