NASW Steering Committee

I am a member of the National  Association of Social Workers (NASW) http://www.socialworkers.org/  http://www.naswtx.org/  South Plains branch.  I have been on the steering committee for more than 10 years.  I do not recall how long I have been on the steering committee.  I have been helping with the yearly workshop we do since the early 1990's. We have a really good steering committee. We do not meet often, and we do a lot of business by email.  We all know our duties and follow up on them as we understand our duties to be.  We are a strong steering committee.

There is one downfall of having such a strong steering committee. Because we do, we do not bring in other members often.  One of the ways to increase participation and activity in a group is to give people assignments and responsibilities.  This give people ownership. We need to be more conscious of doing this.
