Spumoni

I remember getting spumoni http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spumoni as a child. I think we used to get it at Italian restaurants, and also, sometimes, it was available for home consumption.

I love spumoni.  Today at work, we had cake and ice cream as we were honoring a long time employee who was changing jobs.  They had rainbow sherbet.  I like ice cream, but I love sherbet.  As I was standing there looking at the rainbow sherbet, spumoni popped into my head. 

In Lubbock Texas, you have a hard time finding spumoni.  I remember, years ago, we went to lunch as a group somewhere, and spumoni was on the dessert menu. Only two of my co-workers, one who grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, and one who grew up in Southern California, knew what spumoni was.

I have seen it in one of the supermarkets on rare occasion, but spumoni in Lubbock, Texas is rare!
