Several years ago, when I was in Massachusetts visiting family, my sister told me about the Museum of Russian Icons http://museumofrussianicons.org/en/. It is in Clinton, Massachusetts. It was of interest to me, so I visited the museum. Some time after that, the Texas Tech Museum had a traveling exhibit from the collection of the Museum of Russian Icons. Of course, I went to see it.
Most recently this year, I was in Massachusetts and went to see the Hancock Shaker Village http://hancockshakervillage.org/visit-2/hours-admission/ in Hancock, Massachusetts. Now, there is an exhibit at the Texas Tech Museum called "Gather Up the Fragments" from the Andrews Shaker Collection, from the Hancock Shaker Village http://www.depts.ttu.edu/museumttu/exhsch11.html.
I will make a point to see that, too.
I think it is interesting that I have been to museums in Massachusetts, and then have the opportunity to see traveling exhibits, from these museums, in Texas. Hmmm.
The opposite has also happened. Some time back, the Texas Tech Museum had an exhibit of Saturday Evening Post http://www.magazine-agent.com-sub.info/The-Saturday-Evening-Post/Welcome covers done be Norman Rockwell. On my most recent visit home, the same day I went to the Hancock Shaker Village, I went to the Norman Rockwell Museum http://www.nrm.org/.
I think it is interesting that there is so much museum quality culture in Massachusetts.
