I generally follow Texas Tech basketball http://www.texastech.com/sports/w-baskbl/text-w-baskbl-body.html, and sometimes, buy seasons tickets for the women's team. I have decided not to do that this year, as the team last year did not win one conference game, and lost several good players during the off season. I will attend as many of the games as I can, but I will not pay the seasons ticket price. In part because I see that as a sign of support for my team "good or bad." And, while I do not want to be a "fair weather fan," I want the team, the coaches, and the athletic department administration to know they have to put out a good product. Especially for the price they are asking for season tickets. It is ridiculous.
In the past, when the attendance has been down, there have been a lot of specials to get people into the arena. I am going to count on that.
The season opener is November 14, about 2 weeks later than usual. Because of that, I did not click to the fact that the men's team was opening in the beginning of November, as is the usual schedule. I would not have attended the games, but I did miss two games on the radio, but now have the schedule printed out so I can plan better.
The next men's game is at home on November 14. I am counting on the past tradition of having one ticket for both games, since the men's game is scheduled to start about 30 minutes after the women finish. It will be a basketball night!
