Turkey

Some time ago, I bought some turkey from the deli, and Haiku was very interested in eating it for a few days. The next time I bought turkey, Haiku was not really interested.  Today I but a turkey and cheese sandwich from Subway.  Haiku was very interested in the turkey  and I gave her some off the sandwich..  I bought a foot long, and ate half for lunch and half for dinner.  I took all of the turkey off the dinner sandwich to feed to Haiku, but tonight she ate a good serving of liver.  I will offer the turkey at another time, or if she wants a snack later on, which is possible, if she did not get her fill earlier.

Dinner Was Late Tonight

Tonight, I went to a CEU training sponsored by the Lubbock County Medical Society.  It started at 5:30 PM  went through 8 PM.  I had planned to leave work in plenty of time to feed the cats and then go to the training.  Well, events intervened, so I fed the cats extra in the morning, knowing it would be after 8 PM before I returned home.  I weighed cancelling, but it was a topic I wanted to hear: Human Trafficking, and I hate to make an RSVP and cancel at the last minute.  So, I did attend the training. It was good.

When I arrived home shortly after 8 PM, Haiku and Taki were waiting for diner at the door.  I fed them quickly with dry food, then added two types of moist food, including human tuna that I had opened in the morning.  Haiku, as she does, ate several times, then cried at the selection she was provided.  But then she ate more.

I hated to be late feeding the cats.  But they survived.

A Not So Subtle Hint

I had the afternoon off, and one of my tasks was to work on the minutes for the Catholic Charities, Diocese of Lubbock, Board of Directors. I take notes at the meeting, and record the meetings. My general process is to type up my notes, then listen to the recording to edit the minutes for accuracy.

I was listening to the recording this afternoon, using headphones.  Usually, Taki plays with the headphones cord.  Well, I lost track of time, and worked into cat dinner time.  In retrospect, Taki was trying to get my attention, and I was ignoring her.  She usually gets my attention by attacking my feet, but I had my shoes on, and did not really notice her efforts. So, all of a sudden, she attacked not the headphones cord, but the recorder.  This was a direct and deliberate attack!  So, she absolutely got my attention!  And she got dinner!
