Keys

Where I work, I have to turn in keys at the end of the work day.  Since it is Friday, as I check out for the night, and the week, I had my mind on something else besides checking in keys.  So, I got all the way home, and discovered I had work keys in my pocket.  It is not far from my home to work, so it was a quick trip back to turn in my keys.  They actually do a key count, and if the keys are not turned in, they will call the employee and tell them they need to return them in post haste.

Sometimes, I Am Not Very Observant

Tuesday evening I took a walk.  Because I had been locked out one day, after realizing it could happen and I did nothing about it, when I do not take my purse that has a set of house keys, I take a spare set of keys.  So, Tuesday night I took a set of keys on my walk.  I put them back in my vehicle, on the driver's seat, and never thought anything about it.

Until this morning.  I was going into work, and was not taking my purse, so I thought about those keys.  I could not find them this morning, after a quick search.  I did not have time to search then.  I thought I would go to the park and look at the picnic table I sat at, knowing that was a long shot, but had to get on to work.

It was a short stint at work. On my way out to the car, I reminded myself that I did need to look for that set of keys.  I opened the car door, and viola that missing set of keys was on my driver's seat, where I put them Tuesday evening! I had been sitting on the keys almost all week, and did not even know it. A little embarrassing, but funny now, so I can write about it!

Keys Lost, Keys Found

I have two padlocks that I use on the outside gates.  They are keyed alike.  I have a particular storage spot for the keys.  I have two keys, too.  Every time I get the keys out, I tell myself that I should separate them, in case I cannot find one.

Well, I used the keys this weekend, and was pretty sure, but not a hundred per cent sure, that I returned the keys to the house.  Well, when I tried to find them today, I could not.  I spent about 30 minutes looking, but then had to go out, to do some errands before places closed.

Himmm.   I was  a little unsettled.  I have a bolt cutter.  So, I could cut the padlocks off the gates and start over if I needed to.

I decided that I would spend the week looking for the keys, and haul my trash to the dumpster the long way.  Because that is the biggest reason I go out the back gate.

Then, as I was doing chores around the house, I remembered additional places to look for keys. And, guess what.  They were right where I left them.

Guess what, after all this time, I finally separated the keys, so if I lose one, I will have a back up!

The Missing Computer Key

There are a couple of loose keys on my keyboard. I keep replacing them, and sometimes,  they stay a while, and sometimes, they do not. A couple of days ago, I noticed the page down button was missing, but I found it misplaced on the keyboard. I was not able to replace it properly on its setting. Sometimes, I get a good fit, sometimes, it is a wobbly fit.   I got a wobbly fit.

This evening when I sat down at the computer, I noticed the page down key was missing. Well, I looked around on the computer desk but there is lots of stuff piled on the desk. It could be hiding anywhere. I looked int he trash, but it was not there.  I suspect it is time to clean off the computer desk again. This generally only gets done out of necessity.

I am not sure when this missing key happened. It might have been today, when a cat found a new toy. If that is the case, the  key could be anywhere. I can still use the function without the key. And, I discovered that at one time, when both the page up and page down keys were loose, I must have interchanged them.  Well these are keys I rarely use. When I started using the computer last night, it was in its wobbly place.

I will continue to keep an eye out for the missing key.  I have to wonder if it went missing last night, when Taki did a flying leap onto the computer desk, skated to a halt, and sent papers, books, pens and what have you flying. I am not sure how, but somehow, the missing key may have joined the menagerie of flying detritus.

I have done a precursory search.  Including looking under furniture. Well, sometime, it may show up. Or, it may not.   I can still use the function.
