A Gratitude Post #4

Gratitude today is for the opportunity to be alive, and have the sick leave I need to stay home and rest, when I cannot function adequately.  That is a multiple blessing, acquired from years of  hard work, not using sick leave unless I really needed it, and having a supervisor who understands my health problems.  Plus being ready to retire soon.

Rebound

I went to work today.  I am so glad I did not push myself yesterday to go to work.  I felt very weak and shaky this morning.  I suspect it was because I had so little to eat yesterday.  If I had gone to work in the afternoon, after only eating a few crackers, that might have been bad!

The other thing I have noticed that as I get older, I do not rebound from illness as quickly as I did even 3 or 4 years ago.  I expect this as a function of aging.  But, it is disappointing.

Sick Leave

I took sick leave today. I do not do that very often, and when I do, in the past I used to feel guilty. Today, I took sick leave. The truth be known, I could have probably returned to work in the afternoon, but I still had a horrible headache.  In the past, I would have pushed myself to return to work, not matter. But I am getting older, and I need to slow down and take care of myself. I have the sick leave, so today, I used it.
